On Saturday (April 25, 2026), a sharp drop in temperature was recorded due to intermittent rains in most parts of the valley and fresh snowfall in the higher mountains. According to Meteorological Center Srinagar, this weather pattern is likely to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours:

Fresh snowfall: Light to moderate snowfall has occurred in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, upper reaches of Pahalgam and Zojila Pass. Due to fresh snowfall the temperature in the mountains has reached near zero.

Rain in the plains: There has been rain and thunder in the plains of Kashmir including Srinagar and some parts of Jammu division.

Strong winds: in the valley 30 to 40 km/h The cold winds blowing at the speed of 100 km/h have increased the noise.

Jammu division: Unique confluence of heat and rain

Surprisingly, while the hilly districts of Kashmir and Jammu (Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban) are in the grip of cold, the temperature in Jammu city and surrounding plains districts (Samba, Kathua) is still above normal.
