The people of Gorakhpur will soon get a great news related to trains. In fact, the Northeast Railway is working fast to increase the speed of trains on a new railway line, for which a very important speed trial was successfully completed on Monday. This new line will make the journey from Gorakhpur to Farenda (Maharajganj) very smooth and fast.
What happened in this speed trial?
Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) Inspector Neeraj Kumar conducted a speed trial on the newly laid track on the Sajanwa-Jagatbella railway line. During this trial, the train was run at a tremendous speed of 115 km per hour. The test was completely successful, which has taken a major step towards permission to run high speed trains on the new line. Experts and senior officials of all concerned departments of Railways like Signal, Electricity (TRS and OHE), Mechanical and Engineering were also present on the occasion.
Why is this project so important?
This speed trial is an important part of the Gorakhpur-Farreda railway line project, which is about 40 km long. The main goal of this project is to improve the movement of freight trains. The special thing is that this line will provide a straight and dedicated route to Nepal via Naul to carry goods. Its commissioning will reduce the pressure of freight trains on the main railway line (mainline), which will also improve the operation of passenger trains and give them better ‘Freedom’ (freedom of movement). This will also reduce the problem of jam and trains will be able to run on time.
Currently, the Sajanwa-Jagatbella railway block is part of the 26 km long approved track, and work is going on fast on the remaining part of 13.9 km. On this entire route, trains are expected to be allowed to run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph. The track laying has been completed and signals, power lines and over head equipment (OHE) are also ready.
What will happen next?
It is now expected that the final inspection report of CRS will be released soon. If the report comes positive (as is fully expected after this successful speed trial), then the operation of passenger trains on this new railway line will also get the green signal. This will not only save travel time between Gorakhpur and Farenda, but also surrounding districts like Maharajganj will get direct and better railway connectivity.
