On the other hand, Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of the famous caller ID app Truecaller, has made a shocking claim. According to PTI report, in recent times there has been a huge increase in calls coming from 140 and 1600 number series.

The company claims that about 5.1 crore calls coming from these two series are not picked up by people every day (remain unanswered). Additionally, there has been a 208% jump in cases of users manually blocking 1600 series calls since October 2025 and more than 7.4 crore blocking actions have been registered against these numbers in the last eight months.
