Traders in Delhi announced a tough bandh today due to Pahalgam terror attack

In protest against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the All India Business Confederation (CAIT) and more than 100 other business organizations of Delhi jointly called Delhi trade shutdown, historically successful with the huge support of the capital traders. Today, more than 900 major wholesale and retail markets in Delhi remained completely closed, which showed their solidarity against terrorism and the strong support of the traders towards all the steps being taken by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on this issue. In today’s Delhi trade shutdown, about 8 lakh business establishments in Delhi remained closed and about Rs 1500 crore could not be traded. Due to this shutdown, all business activities in Delhi were completely stalled.

In various markets of Delhi, traders organized tribute meetings, silent rallies, candle marches and paid tribute to those killed in the attack through the national anthem and also resolved to fight terrorism. CAT National General Secretary and MP from Chandni Chowk, Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, while leading the march with Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association from Chandni Chowk Ghantaghar to the historic Red Fort, said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has now played the bugle of the final war against terrorism and the whole country stands united with Prime Minister Shri Modi.

Today, there was no business in hundreds of major markets of Delhi including Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Khan Market, Sadar Bazaar, Khari Baoli, Naya Bazar, Kashmiri Gate, Chavadi Bazar, Bhagirath Palace, Meena Bazar, Kamla Nagar, Model Town, Shalimar Bagh, Pitagaura Road, Pitanagar Road. Rohini, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Defense Colony, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Khan, Kirti Nagar, Patel Nagar, Narayan, Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, Yusuf Sarai, Vikaspari Marg, Mandavali, Mandavali, Gandhi Nagar, Shahdara, Bhajanpura, Viharpur, Viharpur, Viharpur, Viharpur.

In many markets of Delhi, traders took the tricolor in their hands and raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Eliminate Terrorism’.

There is deep anger and suffering among the traders over this cruel terrorist attack. Business organizations across the country, including Delhi, have strongly condemned this Pakistan -sponsored terrorism and have also demanded the government to completely eliminate terrorism.

Shri Khandelwal said that supporting the strict steps taken by the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the traders said in one voice that the time has come to terminate all kinds of business relations with Pakistan. He said that in the meeting of CAT’s National Governing Council in Bhubaneswar tomorrow, more than 200 business leaders from different states of the country will pass a proposal not to import or export any item from Pakistan.

Shri Khandelwal also said that “This unity of traders is not just limited to trade shutdown. It is a resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the government in the battle of security, sovereignty and respect of this country.” He said that if needed, traders across the country are ready to actively jump into this important war against terrorism.

Kat also thanked the Delhi Police and the administration for maintaining law and order during the trade shutdown today.
