Mumbai: Websites of many departments of Maharashtra government are threatened by cyber attack. Since the necessary steps for cyber security have not yet been taken, some websites can be attacked by hackers and stolen data.
Investigation by Maharashtra Cyber Cell has revealed that Maharashtra Police’s websites, Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), Electricity Department, Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and some other important websites may fall prey to hackers.
Maharashtra Cyber ADG Yashasvi Yadav said that departments that have not implemented cyber security protocols are at risk. Not implementing protocol is a serious matter.
Important data of various departments has been leaked on the dark. Cyber criminals can use this data to do any wrongdoing. Pakistani and Chinese hackers have obtained leaks that pose a threat to national security. Passwords of email accounts should be replaced, cyber safety audit should be conducted and the suggestions received should be implemented. The plan for data recovery should also be prepared after the disaster recovery scheme, ie data crash.
