People come from far and wide to see big and juicy watermelons waving in the fields. As soon as the fruits start ripening, traders from Kolkata, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh reach the fields and buy watermelons directly.
Cost and profit
According to Mohammad Rizwan, one acre of watermelon cultivation costs about Rs 50,000. However, the profit in this farming is very high, which is why they come here to do farming here every year. There is an income of 2 to 2.5 lakh rupees in a season. They buy watermelon seeds from Delhi and sow them in Kosi’s sandy soil. Rizwan told that he rented 8 bigha land and cultivates. This farming takes a lot of hard work and time, but after 90 days of hard work, the watermelon is ready and the market is sold at a good price.
