News India Live, Digital Desk: What is the first thing we do when we wake up in the morning? Maybe checking the phone and looking at the Gmail inbox. But do you ever feel like you spend the whole day responding to emails? Or do you ever send a wrong email in a hurry and then regret it?

If yes, then don’t worry. Google has hidden many such features for us in Gmail which actually work like ‘superpowers’. Let us unveil them today.

1. Undo Send
This feature is no less than a life saver. How many times has it happened that you pressed the ‘Send’ button and in the next second you remembered that “Hey! I forgot to attach the file” or “Boss got the spelling wrong”.

  • Trick: Go to Gmail’s settings. There is an option of ‘Undo Send’. Increase the time limit from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. You’ll now have a full 30 seconds to stop your email in midair if a mistake is made.

2. Write the mail at night, it will reach you in the morning (Schedule Send)
Working late at night but don’t want to disturb your boss or clients? Or don’t want to show that you were up all night?

  • Trick: Click on the small arrow next to the ‘Send’ button and select ‘Schedule Send’. Now the mail will be sent automatically at the time you set. You might be sleeping, and your mail might be doing its thing.

3. “Spy Mode” (Confidential Mode)
If you are sending any secret information (like password or bank details) to someone and want it to be automatically deleted after reading, then this trick is for you.

  • Trick: There is a lock and clock icon at the bottom of the compose window. By turning it on, you can set the ‘Expiry Date’ of the email. After this the email will automatically disappear and no one will be able to forward or print it.

4. Freedom from typing again and again (Templates)
If you have to send the same reply repeatedly (like “Thanks, Received”), why type it every time?

  • Trick: Go to ‘Advanced’ in Settings and turn on Templates. Compose an email once and save it as a template. Next time just click and the entire mail will be typed automatically.

5. Don’t have internet? No Problem (Offline Mode)
Yes, you can use Gmail even without internet. Enable it by going to ‘Offline’ tab in Settings. You can read old mails and also type replies. As soon as the internet comes, the mails will be sent automatically.

6. Put non-essential mail to sleep (Snooze Button)
Some emails are urgent but not now, they have to be answered in the evening. Such mails increase congestion in the inbox. Select them and click on the clock icon above to ‘Snooze’. That mail will disappear and will reappear at the top at the time you set.

7. Mute unnecessary emails (Mute Conversation)
Stuck in a work email thread (CC) that has nothing to do with you, and getting repeated notifications?

  • Trick: Select that email, click on the three dots and set it to ‘Mute’. Now people will keep replying to him, but you will not be harassed.

8. Magic of Plus Sign (+ Sign Trick)
If you’re signing up to a website but are afraid of spam mail, add ‘+websiteName’ after your name in your email (eg: name+news@gmail.com). The mail will still arrive in your inbox, but you’ll be able to easily filter which websites have sold your data.

So friends, next time you open Gmail, definitely try these tricks. Believe me, you will save a lot of time and you will become a ‘tech guru’ among your colleagues!
