Regarding the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already started creating such a maze, which has given sleepless nights to the opposition camp. BJP’s biggest focus is on those 61 assembly seats of the state, which are considered the impenetrable fort of Samajwadi Party (SP). SP or its allies have had unilateral dominance on these seats for a long time and in the last several elections, BJP has failed to make the lotus bloom here despite lakhs of efforts. Now the party has prepared a very secret and big strategic blueprint to strengthen these weak links, which is being named ‘Mega Plan 2027’.
New strategy to demolish SP’s impenetrable forts
According to reports coming out of political circles, most of these 61 seats are in the areas of Western UP, Rohilkhand and Purvanchal where the Muslim-Yadav (MY) equation or the opposition’s ‘PDA’ (Backward, Dalit, Minority) formula is very strong. The top leadership of BJP believes that if it has to return to power with full majority in 2027, then it is mandatory to break into these traditional strongholds of SP. For this, the party has profiled all these 61 seats and has already started preparing the ground to turn the caste equations in its favor at the local level.
Command of these ‘weak’ seats handed over to big faces
Under this special campaign, BJP has made a major change in its strategy. The command of these 61 assembly seats has been handed over to the big and powerful leaders of the organization as well as ministers. The work of these in-charges will not only be to hold election rallies, but they will also continuously travel to these areas, feel the pulse of the local people and extend the benefits of government schemes to those people who have remained away from BJP till now. The strategy is also to bring dissatisfied opposition leaders and influential social faces of these areas into the BJP fold before the elections, so that the traditional vote bank of SP can be scattered.
Micro-management at booth level and betting on new faces
This time, BJP is preparing to field completely new faces on these seats, breaking away from the old pattern and candidates who fit into the local equations. For this, micro-management has been started at the booth level. The party believes that even though SP has been winning these seats unilaterally, if non-Yadav OBC, Dalit and youth voters are brought on one platform, the tables can be turned. Now it remains to be seen how successful this mega plan of BJP is in stopping Akhilesh Yadav’s victorious chariot and what counter strategy SP adopts to save these 61 impenetrable forts.
