There are immense possibilities for girls in the field of science: Prof. Vandana Singh

Jaunpur, 24 October (HS). An educational tour was organized on Thursday by Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University for the girl students of class 12 under the aegis of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaunpur under the Vigyan Jyoti program of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Addressing the girl students, Vice Chancellor Prof. Vandana Singh said that there are immense possibilities for girls in the field of science. Today girls are keeping pace with boys in every field. Women's representation is also increasing in the field of science. Vigyan Jyoti program will prove helpful in increasing interest of girls in the field of science and technology.

On the occasion of the educational tour program, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Rajesh Sharma said that there is a need to increase the participation of half the population in the field of science. Pro. Sharma discussed the contribution of women in DNA discovery and other scientific discoveries. On this occasion, Director of Rajju Bhaiya Institute, Prof. Pramod Kumar Yadav said that girls are less represented in the field of science due to many reasons. There is a need to increase participation of women in the field of science, technology and technology.

Under the educational tour, the students visited the campus of Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) visited the Physics Department, Chemistry Department, Mathematics Department, Earth and Planetary Science Department, Nano Science and Renewable Energy Center of the Institute of Physical Science Studies and Research. Apart from this, the students also visited the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Microbiology, Department of Environment and Department of Biochemistry of the Faculty of Science. During the visit, the students were introduced to the research activities being carried out by various departments and the laboratories and equipment of those departments.

This educational tour was organized under the Vigyan Jyoti program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The main objective of the Vigyan Jyoti program is to inspire girls to pursue higher education and research in the field of science. Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is working as the knowledge partner of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jaunpur in the Vigyan Jyoti programme.

The outline of the visit was presented by Dr. Nitesh Jaiswal, nodal officer of Vigyan Jyoti programme. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya's program coordinator Bal Krishna told about the Vigyan Jyoti program. The program was conducted by research student Priya Singh.
