The earth is shaking due to human activities! Earth slipped from its axis due to rapidly melting ice, scary revelation in NASA’s research

Regarding global warming and record-breaking heat, till now you might have heard only the news of changing weather, drought or rising sea level. But now such a horrifying and shocking news has come from the world of science, after hearing which the ground will slip from under your feet. Due to human activities and extreme heat, the ice on Earth is melting so fast that our Earth is slipping from its axis. New research by the American space agency NASA and scientists around the world has shockingly revealed that due to the melting of billions of tons of ice at the polar regions, the balance of our Earth is deteriorating, due to which its method of rotation is gradually changing.

How is our earth shaking? Understand the science behind it

To understand this entire crisis, scientists have referred to the balance of Earth’s weight (Redistribution of Mass). The Earth rotates on its axis like a top. When weight is increased or decreased on any one part of a rotating top, it becomes unbalanced and starts to wobble. Exactly the same is happening with our earth. Due to climate change, centuries-old glacier ice at the North and South Poles (like Greenland and Antarctica) is turning into water and flowing into the ocean. This water is coming out from the poles and spreading towards the Equator i.e. the middle part of the Earth. This sudden global change in weight is forcing the Earth to move off its axis.

There has been a big change in the last three decades, the poles are moving towards the east.

According to scientists, this change did not happen today or tomorrow, rather its pace has become very fast in the last three decades. According to satellite data and research, before the year 1995, the Earth’s Geographic Poles were moving towards the south. But as the speed of melting of ice increased due to global warming, the poles changed their direction and started moving towards the east. The surprising thing is that between 1995 and 2020, the average speed of pole shift has increased almost 17 times more than between 1981 and 1995. Our Earth is now moving away from its axis by a few centimeters every year.

Will the speed of Earth’s rotation and the length of the day change?

According to the law of ‘Conservation\ of\ Angular\ Momentum$ of Physics, when the heavy ice of the poles melts and accumulates near the equator, the speed of rotation of the Earth is directly affected. Scientists say that if the global temperature continues to rise at this rate, there will be a subtle change in the speed of the Earth’s rotation. This will have a direct impact on our ‘length of the day’. However, this change will be only a few millionths of a second, which we would not normally be able to feel. But in the future, even this minor change can completely spoil our very sensitive navigation system (GPS) and the accurate timing of satellites revolving in space.

Scientists gave last warning to entire humanity

Scientists from Zurich University of Switzerland and NASA have described this joint research as a big ‘wake-up call’ (warning) for the entire humanity. Scientists say that humans have not only polluted the air, forests and water, but have also shaken the physical balance of the entire earth due to their hunger for modern comforts. If carbon emissions are not controlled in time, then future generations will have to suffer very serious, destructive and unpredictable consequences.
