The condition of roads in up will change: The network of roads of Uttar Pradesh is going to be stronger and huge now. The state government has taken a major decision under which 107 state highways will be widened up to 10 meters. This step will prove to be a milestone towards better connectivity, smooth traffic and rapid economic development in the state. This scheme also includes some highways which are currently very narrow, such as Hamirpur-Rath-Gursahay Jhansi Marg.
Why is this expansion important?
Currently, the average width of state highways of Uttar Pradesh is about 7 meters, including two lanes. This width often proves inadequate due to increasing population, number of vehicles and state’s economic activities, which increases traffic jams, accidents and travel time. There will be a facility to make at least 4-lane route than a width of 10 meters or a better two-lane route and shoulder (side) space will be available, which will make the journey more secure and fast.
What will be included in the plan?
Under this major project, many important works will be done along with roads:
-
Widening: The current 7 meters width will be increased to 10 meters.
-
Paved shoulder: The edges of the roads will also be confirmed, which will provide additional space to the drivers to sideline in an emergency or slow driving vehicles.
-
Drainage System: For better drainage of rain water, drains will be constructed along the roads, which will reduce the problem of water filling and damage on the roads.
-
Reconstruction: Where necessary, old and bad roads will be rebuilt.
Special focus on Hamirpur-Rath-Gursahay Jhansi Road
UP’s PWD has a 15724 km long state highway network. One of these major problems is narrow roads, where it is difficult to keep pace between heavy traffic and rural roads. especially, Hamirpur-Rath-Gursahay Jhansi Road It is said to be one of the most narrow routes. Under this scheme, these roads will be given priority, so that areas with the most problems can get relief.
The project will intensify freight transportation in the state, attract investment, promote tourism and eventually improve people’s standard of living. This shows how much Uttar Pradesh is paying attention to the development of infrastructure.
