TET’s imperative became throat, teacher said

Post

These days an issue is hot among millions of teachers teaching in government and private schools across the country – and that is TET i.e. the requirement of passing the teacher eligibility test. The government says that it is necessary to be eligible for the teacher for good education and TET is a measure of this qualification.

But on the other hand, there is a very large section of teachers unions and teachers who are not only worried about this rule, but considering it as unfair.

So what is the reason for the resentment of teachers?

The argument of teacher unions is very straightforward. He says that today millions of teachers in the country are teaching on contract, as guest teacher or on very little salary. There is no guarantee of their job today, whether it will be tomorrow or not.

In such a situation, why does the government not first ensure their job security? Teachers say:

  1. Pave the job first: “You first confirm our job, give us good salary, then talk about merit. When the future is not safe, what is the meaning of taking exams every year?”
  2. Years of experience also matters something: Many teachers have been teaching for more than 10-15 years for years. His question is whether his experience and hard work of so many years is less than a 3 -hour examination? He believes that the government should also give importance to experience.
  3. Demand for change in rules: Teachers union are demanding from the government that teachers who are already teaching, should be exempted from the mandatory TET or any concession in the rules for them. He says that this rule should be applicable to the newly recruited teachers, they have no objection to this.

Government and teachers face to face

This case has now become not just a rule, but has become the honor and future of teachers. On the one hand, the government is strict about the quality of education, on the other hand teachers are calling for their jobs and years of hard work.

It will be important to see what the government takes the stand on these demands of teachers, because the future of education of millions of teachers and crores of children of the country on this one decision.
