Indian space startup 'Agnikul Cosmos' has successfully launched the rocket Agnibaan into space after four failed attempts. This is the second private rocket sent into space by an Indian company. A Chennai-based startup successfully launched a 3-D printed semi-cryogenic rocket Agnibaan from a launch station in Sriharikota on Thursday.
The Indian engine 'Agnilet' installed in Agnibaan is special. It runs on both gas and liquid fuel. It is the only engine of its kind in India. It has been launched in two stages. The completely 3-D printed engine generates 6 kilonewton force. It can carry a load of up to 300 kg and can travel a distance of about 700 kilometers.
Several attempts were made to launch Agnibaan in the last two months. But, it could not be launched due to technical fault. The last attempt to launch Agnibaan was made on Tuesday. Then, its launch was stopped five seconds before take-off. ISRO assisted in the launch of Agnicool. They built a small launch pad in Sriharikota.
The launch pad built by ISRO is about 4 km away from other launch pads. This launch pad is equipped with the latest technology. Agnikul Cosmos was started in 2017 in Chennai by Srinath Ravichandran, Moin SPM and IIT Madras Professor SR Chakraborty. Businessman Anand Mahindra invested about Rs 50 crore in their project. 80.43 crore has been funded.
