News India Live, Digital Desk: A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) soldier posted in the insurgency-hit Chatra district of Jharkhand shot himself with his service revolver. The incident took place at the SSB camp located in Sadar police station area of Chatra. The soldier died on the spot, after which there was chaos among other officers and soldiers of the camp.
Horrible step taken while on duty
According to the information received, the deceased soldier was posted in the 17th Battalion of SSB. It is being told that the soldier was on his regular duty when suddenly he opened fire on himself. By the time his fellow soldiers reached the spot after hearing the sound of the bullet, his breathing had stopped. The incident was immediately informed to higher officials and the local police.
Stress or family discord? investigation ongoing
The exact reason why the soldier took this suicidal step is not yet clear. Senior police and SSB officials are investigating the matter thoroughly. Initial speculations are linking it to mental stress or some family dispute. Police are also trying to find out whether the jawan had left any suicide note before the incident.
The body was sent for postmortem
Chatra Sadar police station reached the spot and took the body into their custody. After completing the legal process, the body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The family members of the jawan have been informed and their arrival is awaited. SSB officials are expressing grief over this tragic incident and are calling for an internal inquiry.
