Sports Minister will give statement in Parliament in Vinesh Phogat case

New Delhi, 07 August (HS). Opposition MPs raised the issue of wrestler Vinesh Phogat being disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. On this, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said in the Lok Sabha that the Union Sports Minister will give a statement on this matter at 3 pm today. Women wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Paris Olympics. Now Vinesh Phogat will not be able to play her final wrestling match.

Vinesh Phogat was to play the final match in the 50 kg category on Wednesday. Phogat has been disqualified because she was 100 grams over the set weight. Due to this, the final match in the 50 kg category will not take place. The matter of Vinesh Phogat being disqualified was also raised in Parliament today. The opposition has sought an answer from the Sports Minister on this issue.

During the proceedings of the Parliament, the issue of Vinesh Phogat being disqualified was also raised. The opposition also raised slogans of 'Khel Mantri Jawab Do' in the Parliament.
