New Delhi/Mumbai: The weather of the country has once again changed, due to which normal life is likely to be affected. According to the latest report of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), from today i.e. 15th April (Wednesday), two different forms of nature will be seen in different parts of India. On one hand, people of Maharashtra and Central India will be in the grip of severe heat wave, while on the other hand, an alert of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in South and North-East India. The mercury is set to cross 40 degrees Celsius in many states.

The coming few days are going to be a litmus test for the people of Central and Western India. According to IMD, a sudden increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius may be recorded in the temperature in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. Heat wave has started in Saurashtra and Kutch, which is now spreading into the interior parts of Maharashtra. Between April 16 and 18, the heat will be more severe in Madhya Pradesh, while there is no hope of respite from the scorching heat in Vidarbha and Odisha for the whole week.

Clouds will thunder in the north-eastern states, dust storm will move at a speed of 50 km.

Unlike the scorching sun, the weather in North-East India can be both pleasant and dangerous. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura till April 17. However, during this period, warnings have also been given of strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 50 km/hour and lightning. Heavy rain is expected in Arunachal Pradesh today, while ‘Rain Red Alert’ has been issued in Assam and Meghalaya between April 17 and 19.

Pre-monsoon arrives in South India, heavy rain alert in Kerala-Karnataka

There is going to be relief from the humid heat in South Indian states. There is a possibility of storm with thunder and lightning in many districts of Kerala and Karnataka till April 17. People living in coastal areas have been asked to remain alert as winds with a speed of 30 km/h can affect the beaches. The Meteorological Department has indicated that due to heavy rains in these southern states, the temperature will drop, which will make the weather pleasant.

Game of rain amidst humidity in Bengal and Sikkim

Talking about Eastern India, the weather will be mixed in West Bengal and Sikkim. There may be thunderstorms in these areas till April 16. There has been a warning of heavy rain especially in Sikkim. Along with heat, humidity will trouble people in the coastal areas of Maharashtra, due to which the ‘feel like’ temperature will be much higher than the actual temperature.

IMD has advised citizens to avoid leaving their homes during the afternoon hours and consume adequate amount of fluids. Farmers have also been asked to remain alert for the safety of their crops amid the changing weather.
