Law Minister HK Patil, Government of Karnataka, has announced that the Chief Minister or his family has nothing to do with this matter and in the investigation he has been given a clean chit. With this announcement, big allegations of corruption against Siddaramaiah have been dismissed.
What was the whole matter?
This entire dispute was about a piece of land. It was alleged that while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was the Chief Minister, Muda illegally allotted an expensive land to his family members. The names of his wife Parvati, son Yatindra (who are Congress MLAs), daughter -in -law Smita and other relatives were revealed in this case.
The allegations said that this land should have been found by those whose land was acquired for a project, but it was given to the Chief Minister’s family and given the rules. This issue was raised vigorously by the opposition, especially the BJP and described it as a big example of corruption and nepotism. A judicial commission was formed to investigate the matter, which everyone was waiting for the report.
What did the government say?
Now the government has given its verdict on the basis of the investigation report. Law Minister HK Patil told the assembly that a member Judicial Inquiry Commission headed by Justice HN Nagmohan Das has submitted its report. The report said that no rules have been violated in the process of allocation of land nor did Chief Minister Siddaramaiah or any member of his family had any role in it.
Patil said, “The Commission has made it clear that the allocation was completely done under the rules and Siddaramaiah’s family has been found to be impeccable in this matter.” The government has accepted this report of the Commission.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress party have breathed a sigh of relief from this clean chit. At the same time, the opposition can now question this decision of the government. But at the moment, the Chief Minister’s family has proved to be clean in one of the most talked about scams in Karnataka.
