Oil Heater vs Fan Heater: As the cold starts increasing, along with quilts and blankets, discussion starts about bringing a ‘heater’ into the house. When we go to the market or look online, we see mostly only two types of heaters – one which contains oil and the other which has a small fan (Fan Heater/Blower).

The job of both is to heat the room, but there is a huge difference in their price and way of working. Many times we buy a fan heater because it is cheaper, but later we regret about the electricity bill or health. If you are also confused about this, then today we tell you in very simple language what is right for your home.

1. Oil Heater: How is it different?
You can consider it as the ‘bigger and quieter brother’ of heaters.

  • How does it work? A special kind of oil is filled inside it. The oil is heated by electricity and then slowly spreads uniform warmth throughout the room.
  • Advantages: The best thing is that it doesn’t make any sound at allIt does not burn the air, meaning the humidity (oxygen level) of the room remains intact, Therefore, if you have small children, elderly or respiratory patients in your house, then this is the best,
  • USP: Even after switching off the switch, its oil remains hot for a long time, which means the room does not cool down immediately.

2. Fan Heater or Blower: Companion for ‘instant’ heat
These are the heaters that you will see in almost every house.

  • How does it work? It has a red hot coil and a fan at the back, which throws that hot air at you.
  • Advantages: If you have come in cold from outside and you need heat in 2 minutesthen there is no competition for fan heater. It heats the room instantly and is also cheap.
  • Loss: But it has one problem. It dries the air of the room. Using it for too long can cause eye irritation, dry skin or dry throat. Also, the ‘ghu-ghu’ sound of its fan can disturb sleep at night.

Now the question: Who saves on electricity bill? (Electricity Consumption)
This is the biggest question. See, understand the math easily:

  • Fan Heater: If you just need heat for 15-20 minutes while changing clothes or before taking a bath, the fan heater will save electricity as it works instantly.
  • Oil Heater: But if you want to run the heater all night or for long hours, The oil heater is a winner. Why? Because a fan heater has to run continuously, whereas an oil heater ‘auto-cuts’ once the oil is heated and continues to provide heat even after the power is turned off.

Our Verdict:

  • If there are children/elderly people in the house and you want a safe heater for the whole night (albeit a bit expensive), then choose oil heater (OFR).
  • If you don’t want to heat the room, but just want a cheap option to warm your hands and feet or for a short period of time, then pick up a fan heater.

The decision is now in your hands, keep your health and needs at the top.
