School van turns into ball of fire, 5 innocent children and driver burnt, school manager arrested:

News India Live, Digital Desk: A horrific accident took place in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning (April 10, 2026). Near village Samso of Purkaji police station area. Ashish English Academy A school van suddenly caught fire due to short circuit. Within no time the van became a ball of fire, due to which the five children traveling in it and the driver got seriously burnt. Taking a strict stance on this negligence, the police has arrested the school manager.

1. Description of the incident: The area was shaken by the screams of innocent people.

According to the information received, at around 8.15 am on Friday morning, van driver Amit Kumar was going to school with about 10 children.

Sudden fire: As soon as the van reached near the primary school in village Samso, smoke started coming out from the engine. Before the driver could understand anything, flames spread inside the van.

Courage of the villagers: Hearing the screams of the children, the nearby villagers ran towards the spot. The villagers displayed courage, broke the glass of the burning van and opened the door and took the children out.

Injured: In this accident, 5 children – Avantika (5), Ajyan (4), Ayaan (3), Suryanshu (4) and another – got burnt. Driver Amit also got injured while trying to save the children.

2. Administration action: School manager in custody

In view of the huge tension and anger in the area after the accident, Muzaffarnagar Police has taken immediate action.

Manager arrested: Police have arrested the school manager (who is said to be a resident of Kerala) on charges of negligence and operating the van without fitness standards.

Van status: Initial investigation has revealed that safety standards were ignored in the van and it was petrol driven, due to which the fire spread due to short circuit.

3. Orders for treatment and investigation of the injured.

The injured children were immediately taken to the nearby primary health centre, from where in view of their critical condition, they were referred to higher institutions in Uttarakhand (Roorkee/Rishikesh).

DM’s order: The District Magistrate and SSP have ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. Besides, a campaign to re-check the ‘fitness certificates’ of vans and buses of all private schools in the district has been started.

Transport Department active: The ARTO department is now preparing to seize all those vehicles which are old or are carrying school children illegally.

Huge anger among parents

After the incident, the parents of the injured children are crying in bad condition. Villagers say that if they had not reached in time, a major accident could have happened. The police have assured that such strict action will be taken against the culprits that it will set an example for other school managements.
