Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) has launched the biggest statewide intensive raid operation ever against power theft gangs and consumers in the state. To reduce line losses and catch those using electricity illegally, rapid actions were taken simultaneously in the entire state from 8 am to 6 pm on May 25. This mega-campaign has created panic among electricity thieves across the state.
In the capital Ranchi alone, the administration has raided 422 identified places and registered a case against 38 big electricity thieves. To make this special campaign conducted by APTO of JBVNL Headquarters, 119 hi-tech teams were formed across the state.
Raid on 3590 premises, FIR on 517 and fine of more than ₹ 84 lakh
JBVNL teams raided a total of 3,590 premises (houses, shops and factories) during the day-long operation. During this period, huge irregularities were found and direct electricity theft was caught red handed in a total of 517 cases. The corporation immediately took action against all these concerned people by cutting off power and imposed heavy fine and lodged an FIR in the local police stations.
According to the official information received from the corporation, the total amount of electricity theft cases detected in Jharkhand in this one-day raid was Rs. Rs 84.69 lakh The loss of revenue has been assessed, which will now be recovered from these accused in the form of fine.

Tragic accident: Ranchi youth who went to take bath in Bhairava reservoir dies due to drowning
On one hand, there was a lot of stir regarding electricity in the capital, on the other hand, a very sad news has come out from Gola police station area of Ramgarh. A youth from Ranchi died due to drowning while taking bath in the famous Bhairava Reservoir (Dam) located near Bariatu Sontai of Gola.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Hamid Hussain (father late Samruddin Hoda), a resident of Doranda police station area of Ranchi.
5 friends had entered the dam to escape the scorching heat
According to the information received, Hamid Hussain had come to Bhairava Reservoir with his five friends to get relief from the scorching heat of the capital and to roam around. In the afternoon, to escape the heat, the five friends entered the dam water with the intention of taking a bath. Meanwhile, while bathing, Hamid Hussain’s foot slipped and he went into deep water.
Seeing him drowning, his friends (Salman Khan, Saadab Khan, Amir and another friend) who were bathing with him, risked their lives and pulled him out of the deep water after a lot of effort. Friends immediately took him to the nearby Community Health Center (CHC) Gola, where doctors, after initial examination, said that he had no pulse. After this, friends hurriedly took him to Sadar Hospital in the hope of better treatment, but unfortunately the doctors there declared him officially dead. After this incident, there is mourning in Doranda area.
