News India Live, Digital Desk: Controversy Over Bihar Voter List: Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot has recently raised serious questions on the process of amending voter list in Bihar. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, the pilot alleged that the Election Commission was arbitrarily removing the names of voters, especially those who have gone out of their original address for jobs or other reasons.
Pilot insisted That the Election Commission is weakening the basis of democracy by removing the names of proper information or hearing. He expressed surprise on why there is a need to remove such a large number of names, especially just before the Lok Sabha elections.
The Congress leader clearly stated that the voter ID card is not just a card, but a proof of the identity of any citizen and their democratic rights. Removing it without proper procedure is a violation of the fundamental rights of citizens. He alleged that such activities create an atmosphere of confusion and fear among voters.
Sachin Pilot appealed to the Election Commission to maintain complete transparency in this process and ensure that no legitimate voter’s name was unjustly left. He said that the Commission should take initiative himself and provide information to every citizen whether their name is in the list or not.
The case has increased political warmth in Bihar in view of the upcoming elections and has launched a new debate on the functioning of the Election Commission. The pilot has also appealed to the public to check its voter list regularly, so that any such “sports” can be avoided.
