News India Live, Digital Desk: Central Government Gift: There is good news for the central government employees who are working on deputation or in foreign service that are not directly under the Central Government. The Finance Ministry has now allowed them to physically submit ‘Form A2’ to choose Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). In easy language, if you are working elsewhere and want to take advantage of UPS, then you can submit your full form in the nodal office of your original institution. Then the Nodal Office will make your migration in UPS through the Central RecordKipping Agency (CRA) system.
Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) was brought by the Central Government on 24 January 2025. The scheme will be applicable to new employees joining the service of the Central Government on or after 1 April 2025. But the good thing is that the current central employees who are currently in the National Pension Scheme (NPS) have the option to enter UPS. Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has also made rules to implement this scheme properly. The last date for eligible employees and retired people who want to choose UPS, 30 September 2025 is 30 September 2025.
