After the torrential rains in Dharampur area of Mandi district late on Monday night, the Son Khad river showed such a rage that everything was destroyed. In the dark of night, the river water suddenly entered the Dharampur bus stand and market, causing shouts all around.
The situation was so terrible that buses standing at the bus station and many private vehicles were seen flowing like toys in the rapid flow of water. Many shops were completely submerged in water, thereby fearing a loss of crores to traders. To save their lives, people climbed the roofs of the houses and spent the whole night in the shadow of fear. Local people say that they have never seen such a flood in their lives.
As soon as the information was received, the teams of the police and rescue teams reached the spot and kept working safely throughout the night. The flow of the water was so fast that the rescue work also faced a lot of difficulties. About 150 students were also trapped in a hostel, who were evacuated to safe upper floors. In the morning, when the water was reduced, the scene of destruction was clearly visible. Buses and vehicles were overturned in the rubble and the shops were filled with mud.
Due to this rain and landslide, three people have also been reported to have died due to falling house in Nihari area of Mandi district. The administration says that the loss is being assessed and efforts are being made to provide all possible help to the affected people. This incident has once again revealed the monsoon destruction in the mountains.
