News India Live, Digital Desk: On Wednesday night and Thursday morning, heavy rains in Bangalore, known as Silicon Valley of India, have put a brake on the city’s speed. Due to the torrential rains, many lower areas of the city were submerged in water, causing people to face heavy problems. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued ‘Yellow Alert’ for Thursday and appealed to the people to be careful.
The rain that started late Wednesday night continued till Thursday morning, due to which many main roads and underpasses of the city were filled with water, due to which people who had gone for office and other works in the morning had to get stuck in traffic jams for hours. In many places, the vehicles were seen in the water and people had to go through the water to the knees.
Out of traffic jams and waterlogging
Rain has had the biggest impact on the city’s traffic system. Due to waterlogging in Unasamaranahali, the traffic turtle was seen crawling on the airport road. In addition, a tree fell on Layel Road in Ashoknagar for some time, causing passengers to go through other routes.
There are reports of water filling in many major IT corridors and residential areas of the city, which has disturbed the normal life of the morning. The traffic police is constantly informing people about jammed routes through social media and advising to use alternative routes.
What did the Meteorological Department say?
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rains may continue in Bangalore and many other districts of Karnataka for the next few days. Yellow alert has been issued for Thursday, which means people should be ready for bad weather. Due to this rain, the temperature is expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, which will provide relief from the heat, but the problem of waterlogging may remain.
Officials have advised the people that if not very important, avoid getting out of the houses and do not take the risk of going to waterlogging areas. The rain may cause power cuts and other problems.
