Last night, there was a stir at the FCI substation in Lucknow when dozens of people angry over the power cut attacked the substation. The angry mob not only vandalized the place but also abused and beat up the SSO on duty. After this incident, there is a lot of anger among the employees of the electricity department and they have warned of boycotting work demanding safety.

Heat stress and reduction in hours: Why did the crowd get angry? The mercury has crossed 45 degrees in many areas of the capital, due to which the demand for electricity is at record levels. Electricity was flowing in the areas connected to FCI substation for the last 24 hours. Local residents allege that despite repeated calls, no correct information was being received from the substation. When there was no electricity for several hours at night, people came out of their homes and went straight to the substation. Before the employees posted there could understand anything, the mob attacked them.

Police took charge, employees warned of strike As soon as information about the incident was received, the local police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd. The injured SSO has been sent to the nearest hospital for treatment. Electricity department officials say that there was a technical fault in the transformer due to overloading, which was being tried to be rectified. The department has started the process of registering an FIR against the attackers. Employee organizations say that if security is not provided at the substation, they will stop work.

Due to extreme heat, incidents of low voltage and transformer blowing have become common. There is a flood of complaints in the control room of the electricity department.
