Pressure cooker bomb blast plot to delay voting in Maharashtra

Mumbai: The conspiracy of Naxalites to commit mass murder of police in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra during the Lok Sabha elections has been foiled. Special Anti-Naxal Squad, Central Reserve Police Force, Quick Reaction Squad, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a search operation in Gadchiroli and seized huge quantity of explosives hidden in the ground by Naxalites.

During this period, six pressure cooker bombs, nine IEDs, three claymore pipes and other explosive materials were recovered. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team defused the explosives. This saved a large number of casualties.

At present, the Lok Sabha elections were conducted smoothly in Gadchiroli amid heavy deployment of 15,000 police. Police had received information about the presence of explosives in the Naxal-affected Tipagarh hill area of ​​Gadchiroli. Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal said, due to this, BDDS, Quick Action Team, CRPF personnel and other security agencies conducted a search operation here.

The Naxalites had conspired to carry out an IED blast to attack the police. The exact location of the explosive in the ground could not be known, hence the search operation was facing problems. Security has been increased in the area. Police found six pressure cookers filled with explosives and detonators, nine IEDs, three claymore pipes, plastic bags filled with gun powder, some medicines, blankets.

There was no untoward incident which led to the destruction of BDDS explosive. Before this, many policemen have lost their lives in Naxalite attacks. Naxalites often kill local people. Recently the police has caught a Naxalite carrying a reward of lakhs of rupees.
