News India Live, Digital Desk: We all know that elections in India are like a festival. But there is a dark truth behind the glamor of this festival, which we often ignore. That is the true problem of the ground staff who conduct elections or correct the voter list.
Recently, something has happened in Uttar Pradesh which has shaken the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). News is coming that some people are engaged in the work of adding and correcting names in the voter list. BLO (Booth Level Officers) Has died under suspicious circumstances. These are the employees who go door to door to ensure that your vote is cast.
Now on his death, ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ has started siege of the government and administration. Party leaders have asked in a clear tone what is the real reason behind these deaths?
Administration under question
Aam Aadmi Party says that this is not a trivial matter. Employees who were healthy go for duty and then news comes that they are no more, is this not a matter of investigation?
The party has alleged that these employees are losing their lives due to excessive work pressure and bad environment. The administration often brushes it off by calling it “natural death” or heart attack.
AAP leaders raised the question, “Does the life of a BLO have no value? Does the government take care of them only till elections are held?”
Who will pay for the family’s tears?
The biggest issue that AAP has raised is Compensation.
When a government employee loses his life while on duty, we and you probably cannot even realize what his family goes through. The earning member of the family leaves and the crying children and wife are left behind.
Aam Aadmi Party has made a strict demand from the Yogi government that:
- There should be a judicial inquiry: These deaths should be properly investigated to find out whether they were indeed natural deaths or whether workload (negligence) took their lives.
- Receive respectable compensation: At least to the affected families Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore Compensation should be given, as is the rule for employees who die while on election duty.
Why try to hide?
The party of Sanjay Singh (who is often vocal on UP issues) says that the administration is trying to hide the figures of deaths so that compensation does not have to be paid. This allegation is very serious. If a person is sacrificing his life in the work of nation building (election process), then his family deserves respect and financial help, not running around in offices.
This news is not just politics, but a question on the system which is perhaps failing to protect its own employees. Will the government be able to wipe the tears of these families?
