This session will start from December 5 and will continue till December 11. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Although the total duration of the session is seven days, but the work in it will be done only for five days. In this short period, debates on many big issues and important decisions are expected, due to which the political temperature of the state is sure to rise.
With the announcement of the session, both the ruling party and the opposition have geared up. On one hand, the government will use this opportunity to count its achievements and get the necessary bills passed, while on the other hand, the opposition has also made full preparations to corner the government on many issues.
Major decisions of the cabinet before the session
Interestingly, even before the start of the Assembly session, the government has approved 18 proposals in the cabinet meeting, the echo of which will be heard in the House as well. Some of these decisions are directly related to the general public:
- ‘Desi Mangur’ becomes the state fish of Jharkhand: The government has declared ‘Clarias Mangur’ as the state fish of the state. The purpose of this decision is to conserve and promote this fish.
- Rules for police reinstatement: An important change has been made in the rules of physical examination for the recruitment of constable in ‘India Reserve Battalion’. Now male candidates will have to complete a race of 1600 meters in 6 minutes, whereas for female candidates, the target has been set to complete the same race in 10 minutes.
- Education and tourism will gain momentum: The Cabinet has decided to set up STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) labs in one ‘CM School of Excellence’ in every district of the state. Apart from this, ‘hotel Baidyanath Vihar’ located in Deoghar will be developed as a four-star hotel on public-private partnership (PPP) model.
What can be special in the session?
Many important legislative and financial tasks are likely to be completed in this winter session. The government will try to get the pending bills passed. At the same time, the opposition will try to corner the government on issues like law and order, unemployment and slow pace of development schemes. Since this session is happening around the 25th Foundation Day celebrations of Jharkhand, its importance has increased even more.
Now everyone’s eyes are on whether this short session will turn into just an uproar or will there be some meaningful discussion on the issues related to the people of the state.
