News India Live, Digital Desk: India’s New Mantra in BRICS: When India will head the group of BRICS countries next year (2025), what will be our attention? Prime Minister Narendra Modi has answered this question. He has clearly stated that India will be headed by the “humanity-centered approach”, that is, human welfare and inclusive development will be our top priority.
This was stated by Prime Minister Modi in a dialogue with ‘BRICS Business Council’ during the ongoing BRICS Summit in Johannesburg. He stressed that BRICs should become a platform that not only resolve the common challenges of the world, but also the voice of developing countries, especially ‘Global South’ (developing world).
After all, what is this ‘humanity-centric’ vision?
Prime Minister Modi explained that his priority would have to be promoted ‘human welfare’ and ‘inclusive development’. This means that BRICS countries will work together on such policies and initiatives, which are good for all people, no one will leave behind. He said that while presiding over the BRICS, India will promote such ‘multilateralism’ which takes care of the interests of everyone instead of just a few countries.
Modi also mentioned some special areas which will be emphasized:
-
Innovation and Digital Public Infrastructure: The progress made by India in the digital sector will be shared with the rest of BRICS to get the benefit to developing countries.
-
Sustainable Development: Development keeping in mind the environment and future generations.
-
South-South Cooperation: Helping each other and sharing knowledge of developing countries.
The Prime Minister reminded that the world today is struggling with many big challenges like climate change, poverty, hunger and health. BRICS countries will have to work unitedly to deal with these problems. He also appreciated the BRICS Business Council and said that his role is very important in increasing economic cooperation.
In short, next year BRICS will be commanded by India and PM Modi has made it clear that our goal will be not just economic development, but a world where ‘humanity’ and ‘Sabka Saath, Sab Vikas’ is the first.
