Why are prices stable?
You might be wondering why petrol prices are not rising every day amidst the news of inflation? In fact, the tax cuts made by the government and many states after May 2022 are still in effect. Oil companies are also managing the fluctuations in crude oil prices so that the common consumer does not face daily shocks.
How are these rates decided?
Fixing the price of petrol is not a magical game, but there are four big reasons behind it:
- Crude Oil: How expensive or cheap is the crude oil coming from abroad?
- Rupee vs Dollar: Since we buy oil in dollars, if our rupee weakens, oil will automatically become expensive.
- Refining Cost: The cost of converting crude oil into a vehicle.
- Tax: Heavy taxes imposed by the central and state governments.
