Gurugram (Haryana): There is a very good news for the residents of Millennium City Gurugram. Lakhs of people suffering from the problem of traffic jam in the city are soon going to get relief, because the construction work of the much awaited metro line connecting Old Gurugram to New Gurugram is about to gain momentum.

Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has started ground work for the project and aims to complete the entire corridor in the next two years.

Where will this new metro line go?

This entire project will be 28.5 kilometers long, in which 27 elevated (above ground) stations will be built. This line will start from the Millennium City Center and connect back to Cyber ​​City via different sectors of Old Gurugram, thereby covering a large part of the city with the metro network.

The work will be completed in two phases

This project is being completed in two phases:

Phase 1: Millennium City Center to Sector-9
Construction work has started in this phase. Under this the following stations will be built:

  • Millennium City Metro
  • Sector-45
  • Cyber ​​Park
  • Sector 47
  • Subhash Chowk
  • Sector-48
  • Sector-72 A
  • Hero Honda Chowk
  • Udyog Vihar Phase-6
  • Sector-10
  • Sector-37
  • Basai village
  • Sector-9

Phase 2: Sector-9 to Cyber ​​City
Preparations for this phase have also started and tenders will be issued soon. This part will directly connect Old Gurugram to Cyber ​​City.

Preparations are going on war footing

To speed up the construction of metro, big projects will be done at two places. casting yard Are being made. Casting yard is the place where the pillars and girders of the metro (on which the tracks are laid) are cast.

  • First Casting Yard: It is being built in Transport Nagar of Sector-33.
  • Second Casting Yard: It is being established in Sector-10. Interestingly, this land was being used as a pile of debris by the Municipal Corporation for years, which has now been cleaned and prepared for metro construction.

With the completion of this project, not only will it be easier for the people living in Old Gurugram to connect with other parts of the city, but the traffic burden on the roads will also reduce significantly. This metro line will write a new chapter in the development of Gurugram.
