One Nation One Time: Now everyone in the country will have to adopt Indian Standards Time (IST). After implementing a country one tax system (GST) and taking steps for one country one election, the government is now working on a ‘one country once’ scheme. In order to make time equal, the government has prepared a new draft to make Indian standard time use mandatory. Under this, IST will be used on all government and commercial platforms.
Preparation of new law
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has sought suggestions on this draft till 14 February. Legal Metrology (Indian Standards Time) Rules, 2024 aims to create a legal framework to make a time for all.
According to the draft, IST has been made mandatory as a time reference for all official and commercial documents. This means that now only IST will be used in all functions and legal documents. If someone does not follow this rule, he has to pay a fine.
Know what will change
According to this draft, IST will have to be followed in business, traffic, government functions, legal contracts, financial transactions and all other fields. It also states that it will be mandatory to display IST in all government offices and institutions.
These are the benefits due to standard time
Along with this, a time synchronization system will also be developed to ensure that all systems and equipment work on time. It is important for cyber security, reliability and many other fields. It is important in various fields such as engineering, safe communication, physical systems. The Department of Consumer Affairs is developing a strong time system in collaboration with the National Physical Laboratory and ISRO.
Why is the same time important?
A senior government official said that time determination is important in strategic and non-intelligent fields with nanosecond accuracy. It is important to maintain accurate time in telecom, banking, defense and technologies like 5G and AI. A little rigging in time can cause major damage. Due to which the central government is implementing the same time system in the entire country.
Risk of different time areas
There can be many disadvantages of different time regions of the country. Scientists believe so. He says that if there are two different time areas and there is a human mistake, then there can be big rail and aircraft accidents. There is also an atmosphere of chaos. Some people believe that the country will benefit from two times.
Benefits of different time areas
According to a research, due to having two time zones in the country, daylight will be used more and productivity will also increase. In the northeastern states, the sunrise occurs at four in the morning. Sunset occurs in the evening. Because of this, equal time scale affects productivity. The study said that 20 million kilowatts of electricity can be saved annually due to having two time zones in the country.
Why only one time area in India?
A time sector is applied from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Arunachal Pradesh to Gujarat. Many north-eastern states have demanded a separate time zone. He argues that sunrise and sunset in these areas are earlier. For this reason, time should be determined according to local conditions. Currently, time is determined based on a line passing through the center of India.
India’s standard time is 82.5 ° ago from GMT (Greenwich Me Time). This means that our standard time is five and a half hours ahead of the Greenwich standard time.
How is standard time determined?
The standard time of any country is determined based on the difference between latitude and longitude. Time in India is determined by the National Physics Laboratory in Delhi. At present, time has been decided keeping in mind the Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh.
America has 11 time territories and France has 12 time territories
Many major countries have different time areas. For example, the US and Russia have 11–11 time zones. Canada has six time areas. France is a small country. But there are 12 time areas. Most of the countries of the world including India have the same time area. But so far different time areas have been used in commercial, administrative and other fields. But by the new rule, everyone must have to choose a time sector, IST.
