News India Live, Digital Desk: Now you will not need to stand in long queues or go to the bank to pay your children’s school fees. The Central Government has directed all the schools and educational institutions of the country to start the option of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) for depositing fees as soon as possible.
Why was this big decision taken?
The Education Ministry has taken this step with the aim of promoting the Digital India campaign and to provide convenience to the parents. There are several big reasons behind this initiative:
- Ease for parents: Now parents will be able to pay fees easily and securely through Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm or any other UPI app from their mobile phones while sitting at home. This will save their time and eliminate the hassle of going to school to deposit cash or give cheques.
- Transparency and Records: There is a digital record of all payments made through UPI, which will bring complete transparency in transactions. With this, both the school and the parents will have solid proof of payment and the scope for any kind of dispute will be reduced.
- Financial irregularities will be banned: Digital payments will reduce cash transactions, which will also eliminate the possibility of irregularities and corruption in financial management.
- Boost to digital economy: When crores of students and parents of the country will use UPI to pay fees, it will give a big boost to digital transactions in the country and the dependence on cash will reduce.
Will schools have to accept this?
In this circular issued by the Ministry of Education, all the states and union territories have been asked to implement this system in their schools. This instruction will be applicable to all types of schools – government, private, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Navodaya Vidyalaya.
This decision of the government is not only a big relief for parents, but it will also help in making the administrative functioning of schools easier and more transparent.
