New Delhi. New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS), one of the busiest railway stations in the country, is now going to be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. To control the crowd of lakhs gathering at the station and to strengthen the security arrangements, the Railway Ministry has decided to start QR code based entry system. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav held a high-level meeting with senior officials at Rail Bhawan on Friday, in which time-bound instructions have been issued to make the station management ‘state-of-the-art’.

In view of the huge rush at the station during the upcoming festive season (Diwali and Chhath), the QR code system is being implemented as a pilot project.

Strictness of RPF: The deployment of Railway Protection Force (RPF) will be increased so that only passengers with valid tickets get access to the platform.
New staff identity: color-coded jackets and ID cards
Passengers often face difficulty in identifying porters, vendors or railway staff at the station. Now to make it simple:
Color Jacket: Specific colored jackets will be mandatory for employees.
Identity Card: It will be mandatory for every employee to wear an ID card, which will ensure accountability and prevent entry of unauthorized persons.
‘Staying areas’ will be built at 76 stations
