Two very important news are coming out from the School Education Department and District Administrations of Uttar Pradesh. On one hand, the district administration has come down hard on eight well-known private schools that are robbing the pockets of parents in the capital Lucknow, while on the other hand, in view of the scorching heat and heat wave in Saharanpur, an order has been issued to close the schools with immediate effect.
Lucknow: Notice to 8 schools on arbitrary fee collection, fine of ₹ 5 lakh
In Lucknow, the district administration has taken major action against eight private schools which were charging fees from children more than the prescribed standards and rules. This tough decision was taken in the meeting of the District Fee Regulatory Committee held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate (DM) Visakh ji on Thursday (21 May 2026).

Fine up to ₹5 lakh: Show cause notices have been issued to all these 8 schools which were charging increased fees in violation of the rules. If satisfactory reply is not received, a penalty of up to ₹ 5 lakh will be imposed on them.

Ultimatum till June 1: The district administration has given these schools time till June 1, 2026 to respond to the notice.

Action on complaints: The committee had received a total of 28 complaints against 20 schools of Lucknow for charging excessive fees. After investigation, 8 complaints were found to be completely true.
Surrender to fear: According to District School Inspector (DIOS) Rakesh Kumar, due to fear of action and heavy fine, two schools have accepted their mistake before the committee. He has assured that the additional fees charged from the children will be adjusted in the next month’s fees.

Action will be taken if rules are broken: It had come to the notice of the administration that the extreme heat and 43 degrees Celsius Despite the temperature, some CBSE and ICSE schools were running smoothly. Giving top priority to the health of children, the administration has made it clear that legal action will be taken against schools violating this order.
