Indus River

The source of the Indus River is considered a stream called Sin-Ka-Bab near Tibet. After leaving from here, the river flows between Tibet and Kashmir and after passing through the northern part of the naked mountain, the river eventually joins the Arabian Sea through Pakistan. Most of this river is in Pakistan and it is also the national river of Pakistan. The total length of the river is 3610 km. The five tributaries of this river are: Jhelum, Chandrabhaga, Iravadi, Vipassana and Sutlej.

Jhelum River

The Vedic Sanskrit name of the Jhelum River is the Vitasta River. The river originates from a place called Verinag in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. This river joins the Chenab River at a place called Timt in Jhang district of Pakistan. The total length of this river is 725 km.

Chenab River

The water of Chenab river comes from Bara Lacha Pass in Himachal Pradesh. The river flowing from here to the south is called Chandra and the river flowing north. Both these rivers are found in Tandi village of Himachal Pradesh and build the Chenab River. The river flows from Jammu and Jammu region of Kashmir to the plains of Pakistan and is an important river under the Indus Water Treaty. The total length of this river is 960 km.

Ravi river

The Ravi River is also called the Lahore River. This river originates from the Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. After this, this river joins the Chenab River in Jhang district of Pakistan via Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. The river also forms a border between Amritsar and Gurdaspur and its total length is 720 km.

Sutlej River

The mythological name of the Sutlej River is Shutudri. It is the longest of the five rivers flowing in Punjab. It originated from the Rakshasatal Glacier in South-Western Tibet. After leaving from here, this river enters Rupnagar district of Punjab via Himachal Pradesh. Here it flows through Ludhiana and Moga and between the Shivalik hills in Ropar district. This is the place where it leaves the mountainous areas and reaches the plains. The river flows to the west of Fazilka in Pakistan and forms a border between India and Pakistan.
