In Hindu religion, you must have seen Lord Krishna in many temples, from his child form to his four-armed form with Sudarshan Chakra. But do you know that there is such a historical and mysterious temple in India, where Lord Shri Krishna is seated with a thick mustache on his face, completely different from his traditional image. Not only this, despite being a witness to the Mahabharata war, there is no weapon present in the hands of the God in this temple. This temple, included in the very sacred 108 Divya Deshams of the Vaishnav sect, is considered a wonderful center of architecture and faith.
This deep connection of Kanha with mustache is related to the Mahabharata period.
This miraculous and unique temple is counted among the famous religious places of South India, which is known as ‘Parthasarathy Temple’. According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shri Krishna played the role of Arjuna’s charioteer (Partha’s charioteer) in the war of Mahabharata. Under the rules of war, he had taken a pledge that he would not take up any weapon during the entire war. This is the reason why the idol of Shri Krishna installed in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple does not have any weapon in its hands. The thick mustache present on his face reflects his charioteer appearance and the bravery of the men of that period, which mesmerizes the devotees.
The marks of the face injured by arrows are still present on the statue.
The biggest feature of this holy place is that small marks of arrows are visible on the face of the Utsav Murti (the statue used for procession) of Lord Shri Krishna installed here. According to folk tales, when Bhishma Pitamah and the master of the Kaurava army were showering arrows on Arjuna, then Lord Shri Krishna, who became the charioteer, bore those arrows on his face and body to protect Arjuna. The symbols of the wounds of the same arrows can be clearly seen on this divine statue even today, which shows the immense love of God towards his devotees.
All the troubles of life go away just by darshan
The history of this historical Pallava period temple located in Triplicane, Chennai (Tamil Nadu) is centuries old. Due to getting a place in 108 Divya Desam, devotees from India and abroad come here to have darshan of the moustached form of Parthasarathy. It is believed that whichever devotee sees this peaceful and weaponless form of God with a true heart, all the family and mental troubles of his life end forever. The unique carvings of the temple, the peaceful environment and this rare form of God attracts every Sanatani and history lover.
