No helmet in Lucknow, mixed picture of no petrol rules, petrol is being sold openly despite strictness:

News India Live, Digital Desk: With the aim of promoting road safety and reducing accidents, the rule of ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ has been strictly implemented in the whole of Uttar Pradesh. As part of the campaign, the administration in the capital Lucknow has given clear instructions to the petrol pumps that no two -wheeler driver should be given petrol without a helmet. However, the ground reality of this rule is telling something else.

Strictness and campaign of officers

The Transport Department and the district administration are fully ready to make the campaign running throughout this month. On the very first day of the campaign, officials monitored several petrol pumps in Lucknow and also cut the challan of 142 drivers without helmets. The administration says that the purpose of this campaign is not to punish anyone, but to develop the habit of wearing helmets in the people so that precious lives can be saved.

Rules are being ignored

Despite the administrative strictness, many petrol pumps of the city are being openly flown. In many places, petrol is being easily given to bikes and scooter riders without helmets. Some petrol pump employees are giving petrol without any restriction, while some people are resorting to jugaad to avoid the rules. Ways like exchange of helmets and giving helmets on rent around the petrol pump are also being adopted.

Awareness and mixed reaction

On the other hand, the impact of the campaign is also being seen. At many petrol pumps, employees are motivating people to wear helmets and are returning to those without helmets. A large number of people are now reaching petrol pumps wearing helmets. The general public has also welcomed the government’s move and described it as necessary for security.

Overall, a mixed picture is being seen in Lucknow regarding the ‘No Helmet, No Petrol’ campaign. While administration and conscious citizens are following the rules on the one hand, on the other hand some people and petrol pump workers are also ignoring it. The administration has made it clear that during this campaign lasting till September 30, there will be continuous monitoring and strict action will be taken against those who break the rules.
