NIA arrests key accused in Tamil Nadu Hizb-ut-Tahrir case | News India

New Delhi, August 31 (HS). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested a key accused in the Tamil Nadu Hizb-ut-Tahrir case. In this case, an attempt was being made to radicalize the youth and establish Islamic Caliphate in India. The NIA gave this information on Saturday.

According to NIA, Aziz Ahmed alias Jaleel Aziz Ahmed was arrested at Bengaluru International Airport while trying to flee abroad.

The NIA had registered a case against six accused in this case. These people were influenced by the extremist, radical and fundamentalist ideology of Hizb-ut-Tahrir. Hizb-ut-Tahrir is an international pan-Islamist and fundamentalist organization fighting to establish the Islamic Caliphate and implement the constitution written by its founder Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani.

According to the NIA investigation, the accused had organised secret meetings. In these meetings, many participants, especially naïve youths, were being radicalised with the ideologies of Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The aim was to achieve its nefarious goal by providing military assistance to forces inimical to India (Nusra). Aziz Ahmed has been found to be the main accused in carrying out the secret meetings. The NIA investigation in the case is ongoing.
