Some of these messages are such that you start sweating as soon as you read them. Recently, the country’s largest banks—SBI (State Bank of India) Something similar is happening with the customers.
A message is spreading like wildfire through social media and SMS. It is written in the message- “Dear Customer, your SBI YONO account will be closed today. To keep it active, update your PAN Card immediately by clicking on the link given below.”
Just imagine, on seeing this anyone would get scared that hey! Will the bank account really be closed? And that’s it, cyber fraudsters are taking advantage of this fear.
What is the truth of this message?

PIB has clearly stated that:
- SBI or any bank never asks you to click on links or update PAN/Aadhaar details through messages or emails.

What should you do?
- Don’t click: The first and most important rule – do not even put a finger on unknown links.
- Don’t be afraid: Bank accounts are not closed overnight through such SMS.
- Check: If you have any doubt, go directly to your bank branch or visit the official website of SBI.

Remember, your bank never asks you for OTP, password or personal information over message. Protect your hard-earned money from these fraudsters and if any of your friends or relatives have received such a message, then alert them too.
