Metro, which is called the lifeline of Delhi, is going to add a new and wonderful chapter to its network. If you also travel by metro, then this news is very good news for you. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is now preparing for Phase 5, under which the capital is going to get a new and completely hi-tech underground metro corridor.

This corridor will not only ease the travel of millions of people, but will also directly connect the most important areas of Delhi to the Metro. The special thing about this project is that it will be an important part of the Central Vista project.

Now reach India Gate and Bharat Mandapam by metro.

The biggest attraction of this new project is the Indraprastha-RK Ashram corridor. This corridor will be completely underground and its total length will be 9.5 kilometers. This line will pass through the heart of Delhi and will also cover those places which till now did not have direct access to Metro.

These 8 new stations will be built on this corridor:

  1. Bharat Mandapam
  2. Baroda House
  3. India Gate
  4. New Common Central Secretariat Building
  5. Central Secretariat (from here you can change metro for another route)
  6. Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum
  7. Shivaji Stadium
  8. RK Ashram

‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat’ museum station will be most special

The most unique station of this corridor will be ‘Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum’ station. This station will be built just below the new National Museum of India being built in North and South Block. DMRC has also issued a tender worth ₹206.5 crore for the construction of this station alone, which shows how grand and important it is going to be.

What is the complete plan of ‘Phase 5’?

Let us tell you that Phase 4 work is currently going on in Delhi. After this, work on Phase 5 will begin, which is divided into two parts.

  • Phase 5A: Under this, three corridors will be built on priority basis, which will cost approximately ₹ 11,150 crore. Apart from Indraprastha-RK Ashram corridor, these include Aerocity-Airport Terminal-1 and Tughlakabad-Kalindi Kunj corridor.
  • Phase 5 (Complete): In this entire phase, it is proposed to build a total of 18 metro corridors, whose total length will be 206.5 kilometers.

When will the work start?

This ambitious project has been sent to the Union Cabinet for approval after review by the Network Planning Group. As soon as the green signal is received from the Central Government, the construction work of Indraprastha-RK Ashram corridor and its stations will be started expeditiously. The start of the tender process for Museum Station is an indication that DMRC is all set to get this project off the ground as soon as possible.
