Bhopal, September 5 (HS). Under the National Ayush Mission, an “Old Age Health Camp” was organized simultaneously in all 800 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH) of the state on Thursday. Through the camp, a total of 95 thousand 867 elderly people including 44 thousand 264 women and 51 thousand 603 men were provided medical benefits. This information has been recorded on the portal developed under the Ayush Mission.
Nodal Media Officer of AYUSH Department, Dr. Rajiv Mishra said that in the camps, medical experts of AYUSH hospital and college of the concerned area provided medical services for AYUSH treatment of old age related disorders to the general public of the area. In these camps, health assessment of elderly people was done on the basis of simple clinical examination related to vision, joints, hearing, chest, blood pressure and other tests including blood sugar, hemoglobin. Along with this, laboratory testing facility for blood sugar, hemoglobin was also made available in the camp and free availability of essential AYUSH medicines was also ensured. Counseling and health awareness was provided for the concept of staying healthy in old age, importance of physical exercise, healthy habits and reducing mental stress through yoga and chemistry.
Dr. Mishra informed that for the necessary support in these camps, medical officers of Ayushman Arogya Mandir of Ayush Department, pharmacists, yoga instructors, multipurpose workers, students of Ayush colleges and health workers contributed in making the event a success. To remain healthy in old age, information was also provided about regular physical exercise, balanced diet and promotive health care services for stress management, as per Ayush systems especially Dinacharya (daily routine), Ritucharya (seasonal care system), Sahrit (good conduct), Yoga, and Adharanya Veg (non-suppressible natural urges). After initial medical checkup in the camps, the persons who came to the camp were made aware about the information regarding referral to Ayush dispensaries/Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH)/AYUSH hospitals/AYUSH teaching hospitals for management of chronic and disabling diseases by further investigation and treatment like Panchkarma/Thokkanam therapy/Ilaj-bid Tadbir and Ksharsutra. Necessary guidelines were provided to ensure continuity of care for all patients by referring them to higher centres including Community Health Centre or District Hospital as required and through reverse referral to the first level health facility.
