News India Live, Digital Desk: A very sad and heartbreaking news has come out from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, which has plunged the entire police department into mourning. Four policemen died tragically due to drowning while taking bath in Hatiya Dam here. All these soldiers had gathered at the dam to celebrate the birthday of one of their comrades, but their happiness turned into mourning in an instant.
This tragic accident happened on Thursday evening. All the soldiers who died were posted in Ranchi Police Lines and were members of JAP (Jharkhand Armed Police) and IRB (India Reserve Battalion).
How did happiness turn into mourning?
According to the information, Thursday was the birthday of soldier Vikram posted in the police line. To celebrate his birthday, Vikram along with his 11 other friends had gone to party at Hatia Dam. During the party, some soldiers went down to take bath in the dam water. It is being told that while bathing, a young man started going into deep water and started drowning. To save him, his other companions also jumped into the water, but they also drowned one by one.
When other friends standing on the shore saw their friends drowning, they raised an alarm and called people nearby for help.
Rescue operation went on for hours, but no life was saved
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and NDRF team of Nagdi police station immediately reached the spot. A major rescue operation was started with the help of local divers. Due to darkness, there were many difficulties in the rescue work, but the team did not give up. After this operation which continued till late night, the bodies of the four soldiers were taken out from the dam one by one.

- Vikas (Hazaribagh)
- Nurul (Godda)
The bodies have been sent to RIMS Hospital for post-mortem, where they will be handed over to their families after post-mortem today. After this incident, there is an uproar in the families of the deceased soldiers and there is a wave of mourning in the entire police department.
This accident is a big warning that one should always be careful while having fun near water bodies, because even a small carelessness can prove fatal.
