Monsoon activity in Uttar Pradesh has increased once again. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of storm, storm and lightning in more than 50 districts of the state for 3 July 2025. In particular, heavy rains have been issued an orange alert for 12 districts. The residents of these sensitive districts have been appealed to take special precautions.

Districts with thunderstorms and strong winds:

The Meteorological Department estimates that Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi (Sant Ravidas Nagar), Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Saharanpur, Shamli, Shamranapur, Shamranpur, Shamranpur, Shamranpur, Shamranpur, Shamranpur Ghaziabad, Hapur, Noida (Gautam Budh Nagar), Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur and their surroundings Thunderstorms and lightning may occur.

The IMD has especially warned of extreme heavy rain in the 12 districts:

  • Saharanpur

  • Shamli

  • Muzaffarnagar

These areas can create water logging conditions, lower areas may be affected. Lightning and strong winds can affect normal life. People have been advised to avoid going especially in the open.

The weather conditions across the country:

Not only UP, on July 3, there is a possibility of bad weather in other parts of the country. According to IMD forecast, Arunachal Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and parts of Tripura may receive ‘very heavy’ rains. In addition, ‘heavy’ rains are also expected in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, Delhi-NCR and Haryana.

In some coastal areas, strong winds may blow at a speed of 45 to 65 km/h, with a thunderstorm, especially in Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gujarat’s coastal region and areas adjacent to the Arabian Sea. Farmers, travelers and sea travel have been asked to be vigilant in view of lightning and strong winds.

Be careful, be safe:

  • Avoid stopping under trees or in open grounds in bad weather.

  • Keep sufficient distance from electric poles and wires.

  • Avoid using electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
