People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief addressing a huge public meeting in Pulwama, South Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti Launched a scathing attack on National Conference (NC) and Omar Abdullah. Mehbooba not only cornered Omar on local issues, but also expressed her deep concern over the ongoing tensions between Iran, Israel and America on the global stage.

Mehbooba lashed out at Omar Abdullah: “Compromise on principles for power”

Mehbooba Mufti fiercely targeted Omar Abdullah in the Pulwama rally without taking his name. He alleged that the National Conference has always given priority to saving its power by ignoring the interests of Kashmir. Mehbooba said, “Some people play with the emotions of Kashmiris only for the chair of Delhi. When they are in power, the language is something else, and when they are out, they remember Kashmiriyat.”

Concern over Iran-Israel tension: “The world needs peace”

Commenting on the international geopolitical situation, Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief over the growing tension between Iran and America/Israel. He said that the sound of war in the Middle East is dangerous for the entire world. Supporting peace talks, he said that war can never be the solution to any issue. According to Mehbooba, “If there is unrest anywhere in the world, it also impacts sensitive areas like Kashmir.”

PDP’s show of strength in Pulwama

A huge crowd gathered in Pulwama, which is considered a stronghold of PDP, in this rally. While interacting with the youth, Mehbooba Mufti said that their fight is to restore the identity and self-respect of Kashmir. Discussing the situation after the abrogation of Article 370, he said that Kashmiris have definitely been silenced, but their feelings are still the same.

The growing gap between National Conference and PDP

Despite joining the ‘India Alliance’ in view of the upcoming elections, the tussle between NC and PDP in Kashmir has now become public. The aggression with which Mehbooba is responding to Omar Abdullah’s statements makes it clear that the electoral contest in the Kashmir Valley is going to be triangular and very tough.
