Residents of Delhi-NCR are finally going to get respite from the scorching heat and sticky humidity. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rain in the capital and surrounding areas for today and tomorrow. According to meteorologists, the deep depression formed near northwest Bay of Bengal and West Bengal-North Odisha coast is slowly moving forward. Due to the impact of this weather system, heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in many states of the country for the next one week. Between July 28 and 31, there will be heavy rain in many parts of Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, while this period will continue in East Rajasthan till August 2.
Very heavy rain in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, orange and red alert in many states
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extremely heavy rain in some areas of Odisha and Chhattisgarh today. Apart from this, moderate to heavy and at some places very heavy rainfall has also been predicted in Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, East Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka. Due to this pressure system formed in the Bay of Bengal, winds can blow at a high speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Due to high waves in the sea and dangerous situation, IMD has given strict instructions to fishermen not to enter the sea.
Flash flood and flood warning in 11 districts of Uttarakhand and Himachal
Rain is becoming a disaster in the hilly states. The Meteorological Department has expressed a high risk of flash flood in Dehradun, Nainital, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh and Almora districts of Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. Similarly, alert of sudden waterlogging and flash flood has also been issued in Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh. Talking about the plains and eastern states, flood-like situation may arise in the low-lying areas of Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh due to overflow of rivers and waterlogging.
IMD issued guidelines: Important instructions for general public and farmers
In view of the deteriorating weather conditions, IMD has issued an advisory for the common citizens. People have been asked to avoid water-logged roads, check traffic updates before any journey and stay away from dilapidated or weak buildings. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has advised the farmers to immediately make arrangements to remove excess water from their fields and for the time being stop spraying any kind of fertilizer or pesticide on the crops. An appeal has also been made to tie the cattle at safe and secure places.
