Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Dreadful conspiracy hidden behind the death of King Raghuvanshi

News India Live, Digital Desk: The case of the disappearance of a newly married couple from Indore, who went on a honeymoon in Meghalaya, has changed in a sensational murder case, claiming that Sonam Raghuvanshi along with her lover and betel nut killers planned to kill her husband Raja Raghuvanshi. Five arrests have been made after investigation in many states in such a professional organized crime.

26 -year -old Raja and 24 -year -old Sonam tied a fixed marriage in Indore on 11 May 2025. He had planned to visit Kashmir, but changed his honeymoon plan in Meghalaya and stayed at a hotel in Shillong after visiting Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on 22 May. Sonam spoke to her mother -in -law on 23 May, in which she told about the fasting and travel plan, before her phone would be out of reach like the king. On the same day, the head of a village reported to be released a rental scooter near a dhaba in Sohra, causing a stir among the people.

Serious search and investigation

On May 24, Raja’s brother Vipin reported the disappearance of the couple in Shillong. Search teams, including NDRF and SDRF, searched the eastern Khasi hills amid heavy rains. On May 27, the couple’s scooter was found near a cafe on Shillong-Sohra Road, with two bags in a ditch. On June 2, the King’s mutilated body was found in a 100-foot deep moat around the Visadong waterfall, identified by “Raja” tattoo and smartwatch. A blood -stained knife, a woman’s blouse, a bandage of medicine and a broken phone screen were also found.

The post -mortem examination found two serious injuries on the head, which was killed by something. The police had probably described it as a knife. It is a tree cutting tool. Vivek Sim, SP of East Khasi Hills, reiterated that injuries indicate pre -planned attack.

Arrests and alleged conspiracy

The Meghalaya Police accused Sonam of conspiring with her lover Raj Kushwaha, who appointed three contract killers- Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan and Anand Patel to kill the king. Call records and CCTV footage revealed Rajput, who was arrested from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh, while Kushwaha and Chauhan were arrested from Indore and Patel from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. On 9 June, Sonam surrendered at a dhaba in Ghazipur under the leadership of her brother after hiding.

Police alleged that Sonam brought Raja to a deserted road on 23 May, where the killers attacked him. After this, the four accused went to Guwahati, one day stayed there and moved around to avoid being caught. The testimony of a local guide that stated that he had seen three Hindi -speaking people with the couple confirms the police theory that it was a pre -planned conspiracy.

Sonam’s rescue

Sonam’s father Devi Singh denied the freight allegation for the murder, saying that her daughter was kidnapped and looted and she came to her senses in Ghazipur and she had no memory of the incident. He has demanded a CBI inquiry, accusing the Meghalaya Police. But the police presents technical evidence like repeated calls between Sonam and Kushwaha as evidence of her collusion.

Next step

All the five accused- Sonam, Kushwaha, Rajput, Chauhan and Patel- are being taken to Shillong for further inquiries. The Meghalaya Police will prosecute them after the court processes. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma praised the police’s quick action, and despite the high-profile case highlighted the state’s commitment to the safety of tourists.

The investigation is on, a suspect is missing, and the country is understanding the tragic deception behind the honeymoon murder of King Raghuvanshi.
