Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has said in a statement that there is a need to take anti -environmental pollution measures like Grade Response Action Plan (GRAP) to curb social media pollution.

He regretted that social media platforms are not easily blocking or labeling fake messages to be identified.

He said that companies operating social media platforms are leaving the task of setting up facts for their safety to the Election Commission/institutions.

Chief Election Commissioner Kumar said that business interests are working in this matter. It is like spreading the disease first and then selling medicine. ‘ This is damaging the fair election process and the integrity of democracy.

Social media companies need to introspect before it is too late. Before it is too late, it is in the interest of social media to check and block fake propaganda on its platform.
