Mayawati has termed it as insulting towards a specific caste and has demanded an immediate ban on it from the Central and State Governments.

The bone of contention is the title of the web series and the characters shown in it. Critics and Mayawati allege that:

Caste targeting: The name of the series directly hurts the dignity of the Brahmin community.

Negative Image: According to Mayawati, portraying a particular caste as ‘corrupt’ or ‘bribery’ in the name of entertainment is dangerous for social harmony.

Mayawati expressed her views through social media (X) and said: “The name and portrayal of the web series ‘Ghooshkhor Pandit’ reflects the narrow mindedness towards the Brahmin society. It is not only derogatory but also spreads hatred in the society. BSP strongly condemns it and demands from the government that it should be banned immediately so that public sentiments are not hurt.”

Political experts believe that this statement of Mayawati is an attempt to strengthen the ‘social engineering’ formula of UP.
