Manipur BJP spokesperson's ancestral house attacked | News India

Imphal (Assam), August 31 (HS). Manipur BJP spokesperson Michael Lamjathang Haokip's ancestral house was attacked again today by unknown assailants. This attack was carried out by unknown assailants on BJP spokesperson Haokip's house in Peniel village. The assailants set fire to his house and the vehicle parked in the premises.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has strongly condemned the attack. The Chief Minister said through social media, “I strongly condemn the third incident of arson today at the house of Michael Lamjathang Haokip's parents. The repeated targeting of our people under the guise of peace rallies is a very disturbing trend.”

He said, “Such acts of provocation will not be tolerated. We will ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Also, action will be taken against the concerned officials who failed to provide adequate security despite prior warning of potential threats.”

It is noteworthy that huge rallies were taken out today in Kuki dominated districts of Manipur including Churachandpur. In which demand for separate Kuki land has been made.

After the attack, Manipur State BJP spokesperson Haokip expressed deep grief over the attack on his parents' house in Peniel village through social media and said, “This is the third such attack on his family's house. This attack has been carried out by Kuki insurgent groups.”

“His individual actions should not be equated with the actions of his parents or family members,” he said. “I will never stop standing for justice, truth and non-violence,” he added.

It is noteworthy that a similar incident had happened on 25 August. Armed miscreants had targeted the same house in Fathai Inn of Peniel village. Then again an attack was made on 26 August.

It is noteworthy that attacks are being made on Haokip's family's house in Churachandpur because three of the 10 Kuki-Zo MLAs had declared themselves to be from the Zomi community instead of Kuki-Zo. After this, the militants of the Kuki community started attacking them.
